Released: February 2015
For those who like their country rock chilled, at ease with itself and with neat production, Whatever, My Love will sound like familiar territory.
Of course, The Juliana Hatfield Three are not the new kids on the block, with this album coming 21 years after their debut flirt with the genre.
Times have changed, and the mature trio are in fine fettle with this altogether more easy going collection of tunes.
The opening creeping barrage of Invisible, Now That I Have Found You, and Ordinary Guy were built for lazy Sunday drives with the windows down on the road to nowhere. It’s chilled out driving music, it’s back garden barbecue music, it’s beers and best mate get-together music.
And that is why Whatever, My Love is so refreshing, because while it may all sound like something you’ve heard before, it is eminently listenable any time, any place.
Crank the volume up on If Only We Were Dogs and let the self-assured swagger of The Juliana Hatfield Three take you on an adventure.
