The big movie this weekend (and I mean BIG) is PACIFIC RIM. Directed by Guillermo Del Toro, this sci-fi epic is about these massive monsters that emerge from the pacific and start destroying earth. Humans decide the best thing to do is create robots the same size as the monsters and go to war. What looks like the most expensive B-movie ever made, this film promises to be a whole load of fun.
Also out is WE STEAL SECRETS: THE STORY OF WIKILEAKS, which is a documentary about Julian Assenge and Wikileaks and doesn’t have robots the size of skyscrapers beating the living shit out of monsters the size of skyscrapers… I mean, apparently there’s this bit where a robot uses a tanker like a bat to hit a monster… Brilliant!
And on Blu-ray we have Jason Statham in PARKER, an action film with Jennifer Lopez, which is based on the graphic novel of the same name. Sure it’s exciting, but does it have robots throwing monsters around? No. No it doesn’t.
I’m off to see PACIFIC RIM. Bye.
