I kick start this regular feature in spectacular style by, of course, recommending the first big film of the summer IRON MAN 3. That’s right, fresh from kicking Loki’s arse (with a few of his chums) Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) returns to face his toughest foe yet, The Mandarin (Sir Ben Kingsley)… He’s not a fruit, by the way. Shane Black (writer of Lethal Weapon and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) takes over the reigns from John Favreau, in what promises to be a sure fire hit.
Also out this weekend is THE LOOK OF LOVE, which reunites Steve Coogan with director Michael Winterbottom in a biopic of legendary publisher and pornographer Paul Raymond. The cast also includes Anna Friel and Imogen Poots.
Jack Black returns in BERNIE from director Richard Linklater. A critically acclaimed dark comedy about an undertaker who befriends an 81 year old widow… And then kills her.
If you’re staying in, and want some thrills (while avoiding Britains Got Talent) rent Tom Cruise’s latest JACK REACHER, which is a breathtaking adaptation of Lee Child’s 2005 novel One Shot. Very recommended.
