The first teaser for Penny Dreadful‘s upcoming second season has been released. The short trailer hints at big changes in store for Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) as she learns to accept her demonic curse. But Vanessa’s newfound powers may see her attracting the attention of Madama Kali (Helen McCrory) who returns this season as a major villain.

Luke Cage has been cast – Marvel and Netflix announced this week that Mike Colter (The Good Wife) has signed on to star as the iconic hero. Colter will first appear in Marvel’s AKA Jessica Jones as a series regular where he will cross paths with Jessica Jones, a superhero turned P.I, played by Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad). The character will then lead his own spin-off series, Luke Cage.

The highly anticipated Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul premieres in February and AMC have at long last unveiled a full teaser trailer. Starring Bob Odenkirk, the series is set to be a prequel to the events of Breaking Bad, showing the origin of sleazy lawyer Saul Goodman back when he was still known as Jimmy McGill.

David Schwimmer has landed a leading role in Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story. The former Friends star will play Robert Kardashian, a member of OJ Simpson’s legal team, alongside Cuba Gooding Jr. (Jerry Maguire) as Simpson and Murphy-regular Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) as Deputy DA Marcia Clark.

Sky 1 have released a trailer for their latest miniseries – Syfy’s space opera, Ascension. Written by Philip Levens (Smallville) and starring Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica), Brandon P. Bell (Dear White People) and Brian Van Holt (Cougar Town), it tells of a spaceship launched in secret by the US in the 1960s with the aim of populating a distant planet. Now fifty years into their mission, a murder causes all those on board to question the real meaning of their voyage. Could this be the new Battlestar Galactica? Let’s hope so.
