BBC One have finally released a trailer for their highly anticipated magic drama Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, based on the novel by Susanna Clarke. Starring Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan) and Bertie Carvel (Babylon), the story takes place during the Napoleonic Wars in a world where magic once existed and is set to make a return.

Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes will team up with ITV once again to create a three part adaptation of Anthony Trollope’s Doctor Thorne. For those not familiar with the novel, it tells the story of a Doctor Thomas Thorne who lives in the village of Greshambury with his niece, Mary. Though penniless, Mary nonetheless falls in love with Frank, the heir to the Gresham estate, but his scheming mother sets out to stop their union before he ruins the family. Production is expected to begin later this year.

Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle is also set to get the adaptation treatment, with IM Global Television announcing that a TV series is in the works, though no writer or director has so far been announced.

Will Mellor (Broadchurch), Leanne Best (Fortitude) and Arsher Ali (Arthur & George) have joined the cast for the upcoming third series of Line Of Duty.

BBC Two have released a trailer for Episodes ahead of its return for a fourth series. The new season sees Sean (Stephen Mangan) and Beverly (Tamsin Grieg) forced to return to LA to shoot more episodes of their show, whilst Matt (Matt LeBlanc) finds himself going through a financial crisis.

ABC have cancelled Revenge. The drama, starring Emily VanCamp, had struggled in recent years to pull in audiences and so will end with its fourth series finale.

Syfy has also pulled the plug on their medical thriller Helix. This follows the network’s push to return to ‘hard sci-fi’.

A&E Network have announced that a remake for the hit 70s mini-series Roots is in development. The highly acclaimed series charted a black family’s history, starting with the enslavement of Kunta Kinte (LeVar Burton) and following through the years to his descendant’s eventual liberation. Original star LeVar Burton is set to return as an executive producer.
