Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) will take on the role of Richard III in BBC Two’s upcoming season of Shakespeare’s History plays, which will see the return of the team behind The Hollow Crown. Richard III will be helmed by RSC director, Dominic Cooke, whilst the other play being produced is Henry VI. More casting announcements are expected very soon so keep your eyes peeled.


Cumberbatch will also play Hamlet for 12 weeks next year at the Barbican.

Tom Hardy has signed on to star in a new drama for BBC One. Set in 1813, Taboo will tell the story of a man with fourteen stolen diamonds who returns from Africa to avenge his father’s death. Back in England, he must resist the advances of the East India Company and build his own family business but soon finds himself caught up in the conflict between Britain and America.

After the success of the Game Of Thrones season four simulcast, comes the news that 24: Live Another Day will receive the same treatment. The opening two episodes of the 24 revival will be shown at 1am on Tuesday 6th May, before they are shown in their usual 9pm slot later that day.

HBO have released a trailer for their new drama from Damon Lindelof (Lost), titled The Leftovers. Set just after the Apocalypse, it tells the story of the people left behind after the rapture.

As production gears up for the fourth season of Homeland, it was confirmed this week that the show would be moving to South Africa. Previous seasons were primarily filmed in North Carolina, but the shift to Cape Town is due to Carrie Matheson’s (Claire Danes) new posting to a CIA station in the Middle East. Showtime also confirmed that Mandy Patinkin would be returning as Saul Berenson alongside Nazanin Boniadi who plays Fara Sherazi, and who was recently upped to a series regular.

E4’s new drama series, Glue, written by Jack Thorne (This Is England) has assembled its key cast members, with Yasmin Paige (Submarine), Callum Turner (Leaving), Faye Marsay (Fresh Meat) and Charlotte Spencer (Line Of Duty) set to star. Glue tells the story of a small country village which is ripped apart after the body of a young traveller, Caleb, is found beneath a tractor.
