After missing out on the spectacular events which took place during Captain America: Civil War, we’re finally able to catch up with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and see what he’s been up to during his absence.

We first see the God of Thunder bound and hanging from chains in what looks like a fiery pit, which could possibly be Hel? Nonetheless this is definitely not a great moment for Thor – he himself gives us commentary about the situation. We then see a dark figure walking as Thor throws his hammer, Mjolnir, only for it to be caught and crushed (definitely an OMG moment). The figure is Hela (Cate Blanchett), the ruler of Hel and Niflheim, who has been released from her prison and wants to destroy Asgard. As a result of her arrival, Thor somehow ends up on the planet Sakaar and is captured by Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), an Asgardian warrior, and is brought to the ruler of Sakaar, Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), who sees Thor as a “new contender”(think Gladiator, but in space). Soon we see Thor entering the colosseum, with new clothes and a new haircut as he waits for his opponent who is none other than… THE INCREDIBLE HULK! This puts a gleeful smile on Thor’s face, referring to him as “a friend from work” (I guess he’s forgiven him for that punch then…) as the trailer ends with the two getting ready to clash.Other appearances in the trailer include: the God of Mischief Loki, (Tom Hiddleston), the all-seeing, all-hearing Asgardian sentry, Heimdall (Idris Elba), and new character Skurge, an Asgardian warrior played by Karl Urban.

Now I know a lot of people have said how much the trailer shares some elements with Guardians of the Galaxy but I don’t think it’s a bad thing at all. In comparison to Thor’s other movie trailers, this one looks fun and hopefully it won’t disappoint. With this only being a teaser trailer, there are still a few questions that need answering, one of which being, where is Odin? I guess we’ll just have to stay tuned to find out…
