As with much of Seth MacFarlane’s output, many a hair was split with Ted, his 2012 feature debut about a thoroughly unlikable talking bear. Enough people liked it however for a sequel to come about, and this week Ted 2 found a new cast member in Morgan Freeman, who will play a civil rights layer in the new film. Set for release in 2015, Mark Wahlberg returns as the unsettled John Bennett, with Amanda Seyfried replacing Mila Kunis as a potential new love interest.
Grudge Match writer Rodney Rothman has been hired to pen the inevitable 23 Jump Street. With its predecessor taking an admirable $320 million worldwide, Sony are pushing for a Jump Street trilogy, and with the end of 22 laying out a number of possible adventures for the mismatched Schmidt and Jenko, expect the final chapter to take place anywhere from medical school to outer space.
Hot off the announcement that it will be closing this year’s London Film Festival, Fury released its latest trailer this week. The film is from End of Watch director David Ayer and will be released across the UK from the 22nd of October.
The Oscar rumours are getting louder as the first trailer for Susan Bier’s Serena has been release. Reuniting Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence since their last awards laden collaboration, Silver Linings Playbook, Serena is an adaptation of Ron Rash’s novel, and follows the troubles faced by Serena and George Pemberton during the Depression era. The film also stars Rhys Ifans and Toby Jones, and hits cinemas on the 24th of October.
Star Wars fans got a little giddy this week as an aerial set photo worked its way onto Twitter. A flight school plane flying over Berkshire reveals a semi constructed Millennium Falcon and one of the new look X-Wing fighters, which has spurred much glee amongst those looking forward to the new film next December.
