Thursday saw the sad loss of one of Hollywood’s key directors of the last 50 years. Mike Nichols, the director of The Graduate and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolfe?, won a Grammy, Emmy, Tony and Oscar award, and passed away at the age of 83.
Chris Pratt was this week confirmed as the lead in Universal’s Cowboy Ninja Viking. The star has rocketed from TV to blockbuster success and takes the role under Marc Foster’s direction.
Disney fans got a treat this week as the first trailer for Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella was released. Starring Downton Abbey’s Lily James as the dusty princess and Game of Thrones’ Richard Madden as her Prince Charming, the live-action film will reach the UK on March 27, 2015. It also stars Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother to Helena Bonham-Carter’s fairy godmother.
The first trailer for the sequel to the hugely popular Pitch Perfect hit the web on Thursday. Pitch Perfect 2, which is directed by the film’s star Elizabeth Banks, sees all of the original cast including Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow return to take the Bellas global. The film is released on May 15.
Peanuts is the latest childhood name to get a digital makeover. A new trailer for the film, featuring Snoopy, Woodstock and the gang, was released earlier this week. Directed by Horton Hears a Who!’s Steve Martino, the film will hit UK cinemas in Christmas 2015.
