Big news for Marvel and machines come in this week’s movie new round-up.

Casting News

Exciting casting news arrived early this week when it was announced that Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing Marvel’s Doctor Strange. The Internet parted in opinion as Marvel fans retorted and Cumberbatch fans defended the Sherlock star, who will be stepping into Strange’s shoes under the direction of Sinister‘s Scott Derrickson. The film will be released on 8 July 2016.

Adding to the Marvel family is the Black Panther, who will be played by newcomer Chadwick Boseman. The character is likely to work his way into the third Captain America film as well as his standalone project, which will be arriving in 2017.

The first look at Terminator: Genisys has been revealed via Entertainment Weekly, with character covers for the new film. The images show Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke with fellow Brit Matt Smith, Terminator veteran Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jason Clarke (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes). The first look pictures have caused some concern amongst the online community, with high expectations set for the film’s release in July next year.

In Trailers

The international trailer for Ex Machina was launched on Thursday. The directorial debut for 28 days Later writer Alex Garland stars Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac and Alicia Vikander as a unique form of artificial intelligence. The film comes out in the UK on the 23rd of January.
