Over the first weekend in June the most rambunctious garden fete will open its gates to music, arts and culture lovers. Described as having “southwest vibes with a slight Liverpudlian twist”, The Great Estate is a brand new festival launching this summer, taking place from 2-4 June 2017.
Set in the sprawling and impressive Scorrier House estate in Cornwall, the festival offers woodfire heated hot tubs, hot air balloon rides and even a vintage fair. Did I mention there’s also going to be a secret gin garden?Surrounded by ancient walled gardens, flower meadows and beautiful woodland (all 450 acres of it), revellers will be able to explore the grounds and find lots of hidden gems when they’re not enjoying the brilliant music acts performing across the weekend.
The line-up boasts Echo and the Bunnymen who shot to fame with ‘The Killing Moon’ and have influenced such bands as Coldplay and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. The legendary DJ Craig Charles will be making an appearance on the Sunday and he’s sure to get even the tightest toes flouncy to his soulful song choices. The Showhawk Duo will also be breaking boundaries with their unique acoustic-electro guitar music on the Saturday. We’re particularly excited about Madame Wong’s House of Wrong, which will be treating attendees to cabaret, burlesque, fire dancing and sword swallowing.
Tap those ruby slippers Dorothy because there’s no place like home, and home is most definitely a huge summer garden party! What a way to start the festival season.
