Steam regularly hosts free weekend events, where gamers can download and play the selected game free for a whole weekend, before deciding whether to take the plunge and purchase the game. This weekend, however, Steam has not one but 10 different games, in what is being called the “largest free weekend ever”.
Steam fans will have over 48 hours to play these games, with the titles unlocking today (Thursday October 16th) and ending Sunday evening (October 19th). Here is the full list of games available to download and play:
- Blade Symphony
- Company of Heroes 2
- Don’t Starve
- Grid 2
- Injustice: Gods Among Us
- Killing Floor
- Payday 2
- Trine 2
- XCOM: Enemy Unknown
With a combined total of around $240, when purchased at their regular prices, this list holds some great quality games, with something for everyone, no matter what genre you’re into. However if you’re stuck for which to play first, there’s no going wrong with some XCOM: Enemy Unknown or Company of Heroes 2.
For the duration of this event each of these games with also be available for purchase “at tremendous savings”, with most having their prices slashed by 75%.
Fans that have yet to pick up XCOM: Enemy Unknown and who want to save themselves the couple of pounds the game will cost this weekend, can head over to vote on the Golden Joystick Awards, where each person who votes will receive a free copy of the game.
