Spotlight On Aaron Fyfe
Signed to Innovation Music last year after an impromptu performance at a party, you may not have heard of Aaron Fyfe but it’s only a matter of time. With a distinct, honest quality to both his voice and music, Fyfe has managed to impress producers, critics and music-listeners alike. Having recently released his Double A-side ‘Freedom Fighters/Angels’, we put the spotlight on Aaron to ask about his musical influences and aspirations.
CF: Tell us a bit about your debut Closer To You...
Aaron: ‘Closer To You’ is an EP that was inspired by life. The recording process was good, I loved working with all the folks in the studio.
CF: Describe your music in one word.
Aaron: Acid-jazz
CF: Who are your musical influences?
Aaron: Loads of folk really! Loving a bit of Darrel Scott just now.
CF: What do you think is the best album ever written?
Aaron: It depends on my mood…love The Beatles ‘Revolver’ though.
CF: What’s been your best gig so far?
Aaron: Best gig so far was recently supporting Jake Bugg in Edinburgh – bloody amazing crowd.
CF: If you could duet with anyone, who would it be?
Aaron: I think Tracy Chapman or Cheryl Cole. Tracy because she’s mega and I love everything she’s ever written. Cheryl because she’s fit haha!
CF: What TV show would you like to hear your music featured on?
Aaron: I don’t watch much telly but I used to love ‘The O.C’.
CF: Where do you most want to perform?
Aaron: I would love to play at Glastonbury at some point.
What’s your fondest musical memory?
Aaron: Hearing ‘Pet Sounds’ by The Beach Boys – that was a game changer.
What are you listening to right now?
Aaron: As I said before, Darrel Scott – he’s mint. Loving a bit of The Velveteen Saints too – they’re good mates of mine and their tunes are banging.
