Sliding Off the Edge of the World is the new single from independent Norwegian songwriter NuBorg – otherwise known as Gunhild NyBorg. The title track from her new album, Sliding Off the Edge of the World is a thoughtful, meditative track that, although it couldn’t be called ‘catchy’, does find a way of sliding under your skin and staying there.
With a vocal that has the flavour of Kate Bush, and low key production that makes the most of bringing together quite simple melodies and rhythms to create something more than the sum of its parts, the song is like a whisper you have to lean in to hear. Close, intimate and understated – it bodes well for the album to follow in June.
