Many die-hard Lana Del Rey worshippers were horrified that someone would have the cheek to create a dance remix of one of her songs. However, despite it being edited to appeal to a mainstream club-loving audience, the finished result still possesses its original melancholy glamour.

Lana’s videos often make us feel like we’re watching a very old Hollywood movie and Summertime Sadness is consistent with her usual style; smoky scenes, unpredictable camera angles and deserted, lonely locations carry an echo from the past.

Cedric Gervais’s version does not alter the track’s mournful touch even though it’s so upbeat and rhythmic. Lana’s sparkling vocals dominate it completely, so there’s no need for her fans to feel like the song has been butchered.
