globes2014– The full list of Golden Globes nominees has been released. Topping this year’s selection are American Hustle and 12 Years A Slave which both have seven nominations each. Gravity, Rush and Philomena all feature in best picture (drama) category. Tom Hanks, Christian Bale and Joaquin Phoenix are all nominated in the best actor categories, while Emma Thompson, Judi Dench, Sandra Bullock and Amy Adams are all included in the best actress categories. – As 2014 looks set to continue riding the comic-book crest of a wave, Sony have confirmed the Spiderman universe will be expanded with standalone films to be made for Venom and the Sinister Six. The first of these, Venom, will feature Alex Kurtzman directing, and co-writing alongside Ed Solomon and Roberto Orci for release in 2016. Drew Goddard will oen the script for The Sinister Six. The Amazing Spiderman 2 which is due next year will likely contain some teasers for these additional films in light of this week’s news.

The Hangover star Ed Helms will play Frank Drebin in the Paramount reboot of The Naked Gun. Thomas Lennon and R Ben Garant (Night At The Museum) are writing the script.

– MGM stalwart Audrey Totter has died aged 95. The veteran actress came to prominence throughout the 1940s and 1950s, best known for her roles in Lady In The Lake and Main Street After Dark.

– It was only a matter of time following the news of Paul Walker’s death, and now the latest rumour is that Walker’s younger brother Cody Walker may finish his late brother’s scenes in Fast & Furious 7. Universal had suspended production in light of Walker’s tragic death, and while Cody Walker’s involvement at this stage is only rumour, it is believed Universal have been working closely with the Walker family so that the exit of Walker’s character from the franchise is sincerely and tastefully dealt with.

– Don Cheadle will star in Avengers: Age Of Ultron reprising the role of War Machine/Iron Patriot featured in the Iron Man trilogy. The film is due in May 2015.

– Emilia Clarke has been confirmed to play Sarah Connor in The Terminator reboot. The role had been hotly contested between Clarke and Brie Larson but director Alan Taylor has settled for Clarke. She will join Arnie for the film, while Jason Clarke is rumoured to be in talks for the role of John Connor. It is thought the story will involve Sarah Connor taking a journey into the future.

– Peter Jackson has this week confirmed his intention to make a Tintin sequel after finishing The Hobbit series. Jackson produced the original with Spielberg directing and it is widely believed the two will swap roles for the sequel. Given that The Hobbit could involve some re-shoots sometime next year, the earliest date a Tintin sequel could hit screens is 2016.
