jurassic_world_logoJurassic World is seeking the services of Josh Brolin to join the cast. Brolin is only in early talks at the moment but it is thought that director Colin Trevorrow and producer Steven Spielberg are keen to have him on board. Bryce Dallas Howard is also still in negotiations to play the female lead, whilst Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson are already confirmed. Jurassic World is due to be released in June 2015.

Transformers director Michael Bay has been involved in a dispute with some Hong Kong locals on the set of his latest film Transformers: Age of Extinction. Initial suggestions are that he was punched in the face, although a statement from Bay himself suggests otherwise. Bay has said that it started when the local street vendors demanded four times the amount they had been paid for the inconvenience of shooting there.

– Robin Williams is in talks to return as Teddy Roosevelt in Night at the Museum 3 which is due to open December next year.

– Laura Dern has joined the cast of Wild, playing the part of Reese Witherspoon’s mother which began filming earlier this week. The film charts the story of Cheryl Strayed in her 1,000 mile walk and is based on Strayed’s memoir.

– Universal has pulled the plug on Term Life, an adaptation of the comic that Vince Vaughn had been setting up. It is thought the film would have been a springboard for Vaughn to display his dramatic acting skills although studio execs decided he had not gathered enough momentum for the film to be greenlighted. It is unclear whether Vaughn will be able to seek a new studio to make the film.

– Guillermo del Toro has revealed that he is currently writing a sequel to Pacific Rim which was released earlier this year. The first film pulled in $407 million but experienced disappointing box office sales in some regions, and this could play a deciding factor in whether any sequel gets made.

– Hans Zimmer has not committed to returning to work on the score of Batman Vs Superman yet. Despite scoring Man of Steel, the inclusion of Batman to the sequel is thought to be a problem given the veteran composers work on Christopher Nolan’s trilogy of Batman films. The sequel will open July 2015, but word on when Zimmer will make his decision is less clear.

– Russell Crowe will star in Fathers & Daughters playing a novelist who struggles with mental illness whilst trying to raise a young daughter. Crowe has been something of a busy bee recently having wrapped up Winter’s Tale and currently filming the titular character in Noah before he sets to work on The Water Diviner, his directorial debut.
