theaddamsfamilyThe Addams Family looks set to return. MGM have hired Corpse Bride writer Pamela Pettler to write a script for a new animated feature film about cinema’s most lovable haunted family. There had previously been rumours about a Tim Burton stop-motion film although this was abandoned earlier in the year. The enduring characters have featured in everything from live action movies, animated and live-action TV series’ and a Broadway musical.

– Since JJ Abrams has taken on the directorial duties for Star Wars Episode VII, rumours are circulating that Paramount are keen to have Joe Cornish direct the third film in the Star Trek  series. Cornish directed Attack The Block and has written Ant-Man (with Edgar Wright) as well as currently penning the adaptation of Snow Crash. He is yet to be confirmed but could be in a good position to take on the franchise. Shooting is likely to begin summer next year.

– After Bad Woods earlier this year, Jason Bateman has already announced a new directing project. He will take the helm for The Family Fang, an adaptation of the Kevin Wilson novel. Nicole Kidman is already on board to star in the film all about a bizarre family of artists.

– After Universal pulled the plug on Vince Vaughn’s project Term Life, Qed International and Worldview have taken over to finance the film.

– Go-to composer for all Hollywood blockbusters Hans Zimmer has been amassing a team for The Amazing Spiderman 2. Johnny Marr, Pharrell Williams, Dave Stewart and Michael Einziger (of Incubus fame) will help Zimmer score the soundtrack to the sequel which is due April next year. It’s an unusual collective for sure but we’ll reserve judgement until we’ve heard the final product.

– Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is to remake Pet Sematary for Paramount. The film will follow the recent remake of Stephen King’s Carrie.

– After the success of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, a sequel is in now in the works. Richard Gere is currently in talks to join the original cast, all of whom are expected to return including Bill Nighy, Judi Dench and Maggie Smith.

– LEGO has released a whole host of new sets based on the upcoming LEGO film. The film which is due in February 2014 revealed some of the characters, and has confirmed Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman will all be lending their vocal talents to the brickwork characters.

– Finally, Little Rootie Tootie have confirmed Christopher Walken and Lenny Kravitz will star in the film all about jazz music.
