After almost two years in production, the first blistering footage from George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road debuted at this year’s San Diego Comic Con to a whirlwind of applause. Needless to say, we were all very impressed.
Now Warner Bros. have released the official theatrical teaser trailer for the film. Comprised almost entirely of new footage, this latest look offers even more breathtaking automobile carnage and mayhem, with Tom Hardy stepping into Mel Gibson’s shoes as the iconic Mad Max. We also get a good look at the Charlize Theron’s Furiosa and Nicholas Holt seemingly embracing the madness to full effect as Nux.
Mad Max: Fury Road is a reboot of George Miller’s iconic trilogy and finds Hardy’s Max Rockastansky who, following the death of his family, wanders the post apocalyptic desert landscape alone. However, it isn’t long before Max is swept up with a group fleeing across the desert, led by the elite Imperator, Furiosa (Charlize Theron).
Despite the long and drawn out production process, that would be troubling if it were any other film, the footage we’ve seen thus far has been absolutely breathtaking, with George Miller returning to deliver on the automobile spectacle that made the original Mad Max trilogy so memorable. Mad by name, mad by nature, it seems, Mad Max: Fury Road looks set to redefine the ‘car chase’ for all time. I don’t know about you, but this is one reboot that I’m particularly excited about.
Mad Max: Fury Road is set for release next May.
