Nintendo have announced today that two new downloadable content packs will soon be coming to Mario Kart 8 for Wii U, taking the game “in directions the series has never seen before.”

The first of these add-on content packs titled The Legend of Zelda X Mario Kart 8 will launch later this year in November and will contain 8 new courses, 4 new vehicles and 3 new playable characters including Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach, and Link.
mario-kart-8-legend-of-zeldaAnimal Crossing X Mario Kart 8, the second of the announced DLC packs will arrive a little later releasing in May next year. This add-on will again include 8 new courses, 4 new vehicles, with the three new characters this time including an Animal Crossing Villager, Isabelle, and Dry Bowser.

Along with the new add-on content packs, Nintendo has re-announced that the latest game update, adding and upgrading a variety of in-game features and introducing three new Mercedes-Benz cars that players can race, will go live today.
Fans of the game will also notice new changes to the Mario Kart TV service, which has now been optimised for smart phones, and has been updated to give players much more in-depth data whilst on the go, including the ability to see whether friends are online playing Mario Kart 8 at any time.

Mario Kart 8 fans can pre-purchase both packs now by visiting the Nintendo eShop, where each DLC pack is available for £7 or together as a bundle for £11.
