The Ant-Man trailer is finally here. After all the behind the scenes shenanigans and back and forths, one of the original founding members of The Avengers is finally making his way to the big screen.

This first trailer is very much a tease, opting for a more mythical and serious tone. Coupled with Michael Douglas’ voiceover, this first salvo gives us more of a hint into the redemptive arc that Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang will take throughout the film. As well as snippets of Rudd in action as the size changing superhero, we also get brief albeit silent glimpses of Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne and Corey Stoll’s Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket.

This first teaser was a little overly serious for me, but that final line about being too late to change the name was a great little note to end it on, hinting that the film probably won’t take itself too seriously after all.

But hey, if Marvel can make us love a group of rag tag space heroes, including a gun-toting raccoon and a walking tree who only says three words, then who am I to judge?

No doubt there will be some who are still bemoaning “what could have been” with Edgar Wright, and will most likely whine about it till the cows come home, but in the end, this is the Ant-Man we’re getting, so to all those still lamenting, enough. Move on already.
