Following the release of their new single Dear River, which was played exclusively by Dermot O’Leary on Radio 2 a couple of weeks ago, Emily Barker & The Red Clay Halo have announced their fourth studio album.
A gentle and upbeat folk track full of contrasting dynamics and a melody that’s oh so sweet on the ears, Dear River is the launch pad for the album’s exploration of self, place and people. “Dear River is a song about journey,” says Emily, “it is a longing for the unfamiliar, where the journey itself becomes a home. However, the more I travel and experience, the more the river calls me back and I start longing for what I knew: those first landscapes, those first loves’’
UK based but hailing from Bridgetown, Western Australia, Emily Barker and her band The Red Clay Halo are a welcome breath of fresh air. Having played a string of sold-out UK dates, performed with Frank Turner at the London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony and created award winning themes for hit BBC dramas Wallander and The Shadow Line, Emily is ready to take things to the next level with a full UK tour later this year.
The title track, Dear River, was released on 13th May and can be downloaded from iTunes here: http://bit.ly/19UeEe9
