Kalypso Media has announced that strategy dungeon simulator Dungeons 2 will be coming to PC, Mac and Linux, scheduled for release in 2015.
Developed once again by Realmforge Studios, Dungeons 2 plans to address the problems displayed in its 2011 predecessor Dungeons, and take the franchise to a whole new level – outside into the overworld.
“Dungeons 2 aims to take inspiration from the very best titles in the dungeon management/simulation genre and blend in its own trademark dark humour to deliver the most complete dungeon experience fans have been waiting for” says Kalypso Media. “The Dungeon Lord is back – and this time he’s serious!”
Players will once more take control of the Dungeon Lord, tasked with crafting a maze of caverns and pathways that make up an expansive and terrifying dungeon, filled with an army of strange and fearsome creatures recruited to fulfil the Dungeon Lords quest for vengeance.
Using the ‘Hand of Terror’ the players reach will now be extended outside of the dungeon to the overworld. This new feature will allow players to take the fight to the enemy heroes, waging war on the human cities through real time strategy like battles.
Dungeons 2 will also feature a single player campaign containing two new playable factions and 26 unique creatures, along with four new competitive multiplayer modes, allowing up to four players to battle it out online or via LAN.
Although very little information has so far been released, Realmforge will be displaying Dungeons 2 at the upcoming GamesCon, so it’s likely more details will soon follow.
