Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis is the new instalment of Anne Rice’s bestselling The Vampire Chronicles series. In Prince Lestat’s latest adventure, he must solve the mystery of the lost city of Atlantis and understand the unusual creatures he’s never come across before.

Lestat’s new position as Prince of the Vampire Court comes with a set of responsibilities, and fulfilling these duties is difficult for someone who’s used to doing things his own way. Over the years, he’s overcome countless challenges and is resourceful enough to take care of himself, but now he has to deal with more puzzling situations than he’s ever encountered.

As a newbie to the rich and complex world that Anne Rice has created, it was difficult to keep up with some of the characters without knowing their history. However, the book includes a brief history of the vampires, how they’re made and a handy glossary of terminology to help readers.

Although the plot is sluggish and slow-paced at times, the fascinating characteristics of the vampires, their special gifts and the rules of their world definitely make this a worthwhile read. The Vampire Chronicles is perfect for those who love being immersed in a detailed fictional world filled with intriguing characters.
