Whilst it was the likes of Outkast, Chic, Foals and Major Lazor who made Bestival for some, it was the special guest act who delivered one of the most memorable performances of the weekend.
A combination of excellent guitar rifts, funky percussions and the classic voice of Luke Pritchard, the Kooks have made a stunning comeback with their new album Listen.
For those lucky enough to be at the Big Top tent on Saturday evening shortly after Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobious Pip performed their last ever gig, the energy of the crowd was lifted when The Kooks marched on stage immediately diving into their phenomenal new single Around Town.
Listen differs from the more reputable sounds of the Brighton based indie-rocker’s first album Inside Outside with fresh components of Jazz and Funk.
Thats not to say that the old-school Kooks weren’t on show as well. Pulling on the heartstrings of the crowd, the band performed such classics as She Moves In Her Own Way, Naive and Seaside, triggering a wave of nostalgia within the arena.
They’ve been gone for three years but the Kooks are back, and in style!
