Back in late Autumn of 2017, All Points East, the brand-new festival that looks set to take over London – if not the entirety of the UK – with its monstrously good line-up, dropped its first phase of artists to play the May bash in Victoria Park.
The festival, which runs from the 25th-27th May, is headlined by indie disco legends LCD Soundsystem, Icelandic pop supremo Bjork and low-key, disco crooners The xx. Of course, with that it already looked set to be the event of the summer, especially with a killer undercard made up of artists of such twenty-first century importance as Father John Misty, returning indie heroes Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Kanye West’s best mate, Beck.
Now, somehow with its latest announcement, it’s become utterly unmissable. Trip-hoppers Young Fathers, the amalgamated jazz/hip-hop gang of BADBADNOTGOOD and returning indie big hitters Friendly Fires top the list as the most exciting additions – but everywhere you look there’s alternative gold.
From dance music with Justice, The Black Madonna and DJ Tennis; to R&B with Radio One favourites Stefflon Don and Yellow Days; all the way to bubblegum pop with immense foot-stompers Confidence Man and Superorganism, there’s truly something for everyone with a festival that has absolutely cured the infamous Glastonbury fallow year in some style.
