goldfrappAll Female Shakespeare Trilogy

Harriet Walter is lined up to follow on from her role as Brutus in Julius Caesar by taking on Henry IV in the second of a trilogy of all-female Shakespeare productions staged by Donmar Warehouse.

Henry IV will be opening in October and will also bring back other members of the cast of Julius Caesar. Jade Anouka will be playing Hotspur, Clare Dunne as Hal and Ashley McGuireas treads the boards as Falstaff.

Skylight 

The National Theatre Live have announced that David Hare’s play, Skylight – starring Bill Nighy, Carey Mulligan and Matthew Beard – will be broadcast live from the West End this summer to UK cinemas on July 17th. The play centres on a schoolteacher who is visited by a former lover, dredging up old feelings and opposing ideologies. Billy Elliot director Stephen Daldry will oversee the production, which will be running from June 8th to August 23rd.

Goldfrapp Scores Medea

The electro pop duo, Goldfrapp, are set to score a production of Medea, directed by Carrie Cracknell. Cracknell’s production of Blurred Lines, which was an exploration of rape culture, was one of the National Theatre’s big hits last year. The tragic play by Euripides will star Helen McCrory in the title role, as a woman plotting the demise of her husband so that she can remarry into a royal family.
