Spring has arrived in Melbourne and with festival season nearly upon us, my calendar is gradually filling up. Yet there’s one particular festival I don’t want to miss: The Lost Lands.

It takes place over the Melbourne Cup long weekend, 3-4 November, at Werribee Park in Victoria; a beautiful mansion surrounded by colourful gardens for Lost Landers to explore. Having been advertised as a family friendly festival, there are lots of activities to take part in – from laughter yoga to the high voltage rock school spread out over the grounds.

Lots of festivals have been getting bad press recently for the amount of rubbish left behind (especially Reading and Leeds) and The Lost Lands are planning to be a 95% single use plastic free event, sticking to the “leave no trace” goal, which I really hope they can achieve. If Shambala can do, so can they.

This year’s line-up boasts Melbournian troop All Our Exes Live In Texas, Baker Boy and motown heroes The Teskey Brothers, amongst many others. So let your ears explore an array of eclectic music, ranging from motown and folk to funk, rock and electro.

The full line-up can be found on the official festival website. Tickets are on sale now and there a variety of options including all weekend with camping and day tickets. Although seeing the bats in the sky at dusk as you enjoy some awesome music is a spectacular sight you won’t forget in a hurry.
