FX have released the first trailer for the upcoming vampire horror series The Strain. Based on the book series by Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy) and Chuck Hogan and with Carlton Cuse (Lost) on hand as showrunner it tells the story of a horrific viral outbreak which could bring about the end of the human race.

Netflix’s Daredevil series continues to gather steam with the news that Charlie Cox (Stardust) has been cast in the lead role of Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer who fights crime by night.

After the sad news that cult comedy Community had been cancelled comes the news that online streaming service Hulu is reportedly in talks to revive it. Though any deal is still in the very early stages, it would be great to see Community brought back.

ITV announced that Sue Johnston (The Royle Family) will appear as a guest character in the new series of Downton Abbey. Johnston will play Lady Violet’s (Maggie Smith) new maid.

Yet more casting news for Doctor Who! The British singer, Foxes, will appear in an episode of the upcoming eighth series, which will also feature one of her songs.

Marilyn Manson has snagged a role in the new season of Sons of Anarchy where he will play the recurring character of Ron Tully, a white supremacist. Annabeth Gish (The Bridge) has also been cast as Althea Jarry, a new sheriff tasked with investigating several unsolved murders who must find a way to work with SAMCRO. The seventh season of Sons of Anarchy is also expected to be its last.

New Girl will be back on UK screens for its third season on E4, starting from 9pm on Tuesday 10th June. The new season will see Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) trying to make their new relationship work, whilst Schmidt (Max Greenfield) finds himself torn between Cece (Hannah Simone) and Elizabeth (Merritt Wever).

E4 will also be showing the second season of The Mindy Project from 9:30pm on Tuesday 10th June. Season two finds Mindy (Mindy Kaling) returning from her volunteer project in Haiti only to find that everyone at the practice has got along fine in her absence.
