Peter Capaldi’s first season as the Doctor may have come to an end on Saturday night, but we still have the Christmas special to look forward to. The tease at the end of the finale revealed Nick Frost (The World’s End) would guest star as Santa Clause himself, but other details of the special are being kept firmly under wraps. Check out the first teaser trailer below:

Netflix has bought the rights to Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, with an eye to producing a new TV adaptation. The books tell the story of three orphans, Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire who are sent to live with their evil uncle, Count Olaf, only to discover that he will stop at nothing to get his hands on their parents’ fortune. Original author Daniel Handler (who works under the pen name Lemony Snicket) is on board to executive produce.

As Downton Abbey continues to enthral audiences around the world, ITV have announced that they are bringing the show back for a sixth series in 2015. Paula Kerger, PBS President and CEO said, “the Crawley family have kept us on the edge of our seats as they navigate through some of the biggest moments of the 20th century”.

The fourth series of Girls is set to premiere in 2015 and HBO have released a first teaser trailer of what’s to come. It shows Hannah (Lena Dunham) enjoying her new life in Iowa at the Writers Workshop, while Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) struggles to get a job and Jessa (Jemima Kirke) finds a new way to get herself in trouble.

Karen Gillen’s (Doctor Who) new show, Selfie, has been cancelled by ABC after failing to pull in enough viewers. The network have not yet announced whether they will air the remaining episodes form the show’s initial thirteen-episode run.

Finally, HBO have released a trailer for Togetherness, a new comedy series from brothers Jay and Mark Duplass (Jeff, Who Lives at Home). The series follows two couples as they are forced to live together under one roof and attempt to remain good friends as they deal with the struggles of life and marriage. Amanda Peet (The Good Wife), Melanie Lynskey (Two and a Half Men) and Steve Zissis (Jeff, Who Lives at Home) also star.
