The new Doctor lands in August. Yes, the BBC have released the first teaser trailer for the new series of Doctor Who, giving us a glimpse of Peter Capaldi’s new incarnation inside the Tardis.

Production of Broadchurch begins next month and ITV have announced yet more new cast members. Eve Myles (Torchwood), James D’Arcy (Cloud Atlas), Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Without a Trace) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Blandings) have all been cast in the show’s second season, though details of their characters are being kept tightly under wraps. ITV also released a picture of the assembled cast.
broadchurch-season-2Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus) has stepped in as showrunner on the upcoming Marvel/Netflix drama series Daredevil. He replaces Drew Goddard (Lost) who penned the first two episodes but has decided to hand the reins to DeKnight in order to work on The Amazing Spiderman spinoff, Sinister Six. Daredevil is one of four new Marvel series set for Netflix alongside Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Knight. There will also be a mini-series to connect the four, titled The Defenders.

Rene Auberjonois (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) and Courtney B. Vance (Law & Order: Criminal Intent) have joined the second season of Masters of Sex. Auberjonois will play Dr. Papanikolaou, one of the pioneers of the Pap smear, whilst Vance will play Dr. Hendricks – a doctor working to racially integrate his hospital.

Filming has just begun on Ripper Street season three and to celebrate, Amazon Prime Instant Video UK has released the first images from set. Originally cancelled by the BBC, Amazon UK picked up the series for an eight episode run which would air online on Amazon Prime Instant Video before a later airing on BBC several months later. Regular cast members Matthew Macfadyen, Jerome Flynn, Adam Rothenberg and MyAnna Buring are all returning.
ripper-street-season-3Finally, Netflix is in the final stages of commissioning a new drama series about the life of Queen Elizabeth II. Written by Peter Morgan (The Queen), The Crown would span the 60 years of the Queen’s reign and would see at least three actresses stepping in to play Elizabeth.
