Poldark’s Aidan Turner & Eleanor Tomlinson To Reunite For Van Gogh Biopic
poldark-demelza-and-rossAfter lighting up television screens for the past eight weeks and winning over our hearts and minds, Poldark stars Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson are set to reunite on a new project, Loving Vincent. The upcoming film charts the life and death of seminal Post-Impressionist painter Vincent Van Gogh, bringing his famous paintings to life in a distinctive and beautiful way.

Billed as “the world’s first painted animation feature”, the film will be shot in a unique way. The actors will shoot live action footage that will then be projected onto canvas and painted over in Van Gogh’s distinguishing style. Reports state that sixty painters will work on the film and 57,800 oil paintings will be completed for the project.

Loving Vincent started filming this month in time for a 2016 release date. The film’s high profile cast also includes Oscar-nominated actress Saorise Ronan, Romeo and Juliet’s Douglas Booth and Chris O’Dowd of Bridesmaids and The IT Crowd fame.

In the meantime, those suffering from Poldark withdrawal will be pleased to hear that Irish actor Aidan Turner (best known for The Hobbit and must-see BBC series Being Human) will soon be seen in upcoming Ireland-set drama The Secret Scripture, alongside Vanessa Redgrave and Rooney Mara. Meanwhile twenty-two year old Eleanor Tomlinson, who won rave reviews for her role as Demelza Poldark, will play the protagonist in illegal bike racing thriller Alleycats. The two are then expected to reunite in August in Cornwall to film series two of the hit BBC series.

Ewan McGregor Joins The Cast Of Live Action Beauty And The Beast
beauty-and-the-beast-lumiereSince Emma Watson announced she will be playing Belle in the live action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, Disney has been assembling an impressive supporting cast for the highly-anticipated feature.

The most recent addition to the upcoming musical comes in the form of Scottish actor Ewan McGregor, set to play Lumiere, the Beast’s suave servant who is transformed into a candelabra following the curse.

Lumiere sings one of the film’s most popular songs ‘Be Our Guest’, and McGregor undoubtedly has the singing chops for the role. He shone as the lead in Baz Luhrmann’s musical Moulin Rouge!, a role for which he was Golden-Globe nominated. McGregor was also nominated for an Olivier for his performance in the 2005 West End Revival of musical Guys and Dolls.

Rounding out the film’s all-star cast is Ian McKellen as grandfather clock Cogsworth, Emma Thompson as teapot Mrs Potts, Frozen’s Josh Gad as Le Fou, Belle star Gugu Mbatha-Raw as feather duster Plumette and Tony-award winning musical theatre star Audra McDonald as Garderobe, the glamorous wardrobe.

macbeth-01macbeth-03Three new images have landed from the highly anticipated upcoming adaptation of Macbeth in which Michael Fassbender plays the titular ambitious king, and Marion Cotillard his scheming wife.

The images premiered in Empire magazine and depict the two characters individually, with Macbeth on his throne and Lady Macbeth looking distressed, as well as the duo together sharing a tender moment.

Adapted from Shakespeare’s great tragedy, the film’s official synopsis describes the adaptation as “a reimagining of what wartime must have been like for one of Shakespeare’s most famous and compelling characters, a story of all-consuming passion and ambition set in war-torn medieval Scotland.”

Notably the images also show off the medieval costumes, designed by Jacqueline Durran who won an Oscar in 2013 for her sumptuous costume design in Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina. The film is being directed by Australian director Justin Kurzel and is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this month, followed by an official UK release in October.
