Chris Hemsworth Confirmed As The Receptionist In The Ghostbusters Reboot
— Paul Feig (@paulfeig) June 10, 2015
Back in February we reported on the new, all-female line-up for director Paul Feig’s upcoming Ghostbusters reboot. The original 1984 comedy classic stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis as three professors who establish a ghost removal service.
The new movie sees Spy director Feig reunite with his Bridesmaids stars Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy, alongside Saturday Night Live comedians Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. The four actresses will play the eponymous Ghostbusters.
This week Feig took to Twitter to announce the newest addition to the film, confirming that Thor himself, actor Chris Hemsworth, will be playing the Ghostbusters’ receptionist. The part appears to be a reimagining of the role played by Annie Potts in the original.
The film is due to begin filming in Boston shortly, with unconfirmed rumours suggesting that original Ghostbusters Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray may have a cameo in the film. Whether or not this is true, the all-star, hilarious cast and the proposed new spin on the beloved story ensure this movie will be unmissable upon its release in July 2016.

Last week it was confirmed that Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne will be playing protagonist Newt Scamander in Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This week, Warner Brothers announced that British actress Katherine Waterson will play the coveted role of Tina, short for Porpentina, a witch who lives and operates in the United States.
Warner Bros. press release explains that Tina “meets magizoologist Newt Scamander (Redmayne) when he stops in New York City on his travels to find and document magical creatures.”
Waterson was part of the award-winning ensemble cast in Paul Thomas Anderson’s film Inherent Vice and will soon be seen alongside Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet in Danny Boyle’s much-hyped biopic Steve Jobs.
Greg Silverman, President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production at Warner Bros. Pictures, said of the announcement: “Katherine Waterston is a rising star, who was a revelation in our film Inherent Vice, earning the praise of both critics and audiences. We are thrilled to have her back in the Warner Bros. family, especially in one of our most anticipated titles for 2016, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”
The film is scheduled for worldwide release in 3D and IMAX on 18 November 2016.
