“Look at your reflection in the mirror. You’re a creature of the night Michael, just like out of a comic book! You’re a vampire Michael! My own brother, a goddamn, shit-sucking vampire. You wait ’till mom finds out, buddy!” (Lost Boys, 1987)
The nights are drawing in, the leaves have fallen from the trees and I can see my breath as I breathe out. It all adds up to one thing – it’s time for the Halloween Masked Ball. Don your fangs, leathers and Levi’s as we are about to embark on a journey into the world of 80’s cult vampire flick, The Lost Boys. This year the Halloween Masked Ball will be taking over Helston theme park Los Flambardos (Flambards), filling it with hedonism and debauchery, mischief and mayhem. They’re bringing you an all night feast of music including liquid drum and bass act High Contrast, 60’s rockers The Crazy World of Arthur Brown and everything in between.
Cornish locals Sir Vinyl will be bringing you reggae, dancehall and world music at the Death By Stereo stage (because no two vampires die the same – but death by stereo will always guarantee they go out with a bang).
No Lost Boys extravaganza would be complete without a 80’s soundtrack, so get down at Fangz! – the nightclub that time forgot. It’s a club with a tattoo parlour, a Tiki shack and cinema – so get pumped up with the retro cheese, all night long as Lionel Ritchie would say.Like every year, the Masked Ball delivers more than just music; with theatre troupes and the general wacky mise-en-scene this is one spooky event that you won’t forget in a hurry.
Masked Ball organiser Kelvin Batt said: “2015 is a real feast of mayhem and debauchery and we’re especially looking forward to the Feast of Fools area. This has been one of our favourite venues at Secret Garden Party and it’s been really interesting curating it with Bloodstone Arts who have a passion for Halloween celebrations. The Demon Drome is just amazing too but it’s all the surprises and freakshows that makes the Masked Ball such an adventure from start to finish.”
If this all sounds like fun – and it should, because it it – then join us for one of the South West’s biggest Halloween bashes. We’ll see you there!
The Halloween Masked Ball takes place on Saturday 31st October at Flambards in Helston, Cornwall. For more information and tickets click here.
