Electronic Arts and Visceral Games have officially confirmed Battlefield Hardline as the latest entry into the Battlefield franchise. The game is set for release this fall, with more information to come at this year’s E3.
The announcement of Battlefield Hardline follows numerous leaks from earlier this week, when fans of the franchise uncovered the initials for the game “BFH”, along with the four new soldier classes, art assets, in-game images of weapons, vehicles and badges, and finally the discovery of an image of the word “Visceral”, suggesting the involvement of Dead Space trilogy creators Visceral Games.
The official announcement for Hardline, codenamed ‘Havana’ internally at EA, was revealed on the official Battlefield Blog by Steve Papoutsis, General Manager of Visceral Games and Executive Producer of Battlefield Hardline. Within the post Papoutsis reveals “This is a brand new series in the Battlefield franchise, set against the backdrop of a genre we all love – the war on crime and the battle between cops and criminals.”
“I wish I could tell you more now – more about the ways we are adding new twists and turns to the foundation of Battlefield multiplayer, more about how we’re bringing our strengths at Visceral to single player.”
In response to the original leaks and the official announcement EA has opened up the Battlefield Hardline website, which displays a promise of an unveiling on June 9th at EA’s E3 2014 press conference.
Seven minutes of leaked footage, originally meant for internal distribution at Electronic Arts has also found its way online, showcasing many of the single player features from the Omaha campaign, exciting new multiplayer action, and anticipated details on the four new game modes: Heist, Rescue, Hotwire and Blood Money.
