Prove your humanity: 9   +   10   =

“We’ve been taught that the birthplace of the human race is earth, but it’s not”, says a voiceover instantly recognisable as Sean Bean – because who doesn’t know the northern actor’s voice when they hear it? From there we’re launched into the new trailer for Andy and Lana Wachowski’s hotly anticipated sci-fi adventure, Jupiter Ascending.

Mila Kunis plays Jupiter Jones, a seemingly ordinary woman destined for great things. Jupiter spends her days cleaning other people’s houses but her life changes when a genetically engineered interplanetary warrior called Caine (Channing Tatum) tracks her down and tells her that she has a genetic destiny that could alter the cosmos. With a bounty put on her head by Balem Abrasax (Eddie Redmayne), an alien royal whose family trades a youth serum, Caine must protect Jupiter whilst opening her eyes to her fate.

Marking the Wachowskis’ first original sci-fi screenplay since The Matrix trilogy, Jupiter Ascending is another eye-popping and intelligent treat from the pair. The visual effects look beautiful and the cast are a promising bunch, especially an unusually villainous Redmayne in the role of Balem.

This is one space adventure you won’t want to miss when it’s released February 6 2015.
