Last month, Disney released the first teaser trailer for the much-anticipated Beauty and the Beast live action film. Starring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens and Luke Evans as Belle, the Beast and Gaston, the already stellar cast is rounded out by the likes of Ewan McGregor, Josh Gad and Sir Ian McKellen – but it isn’t even the star power that has us so excited.

With just 90 seconds of footage on show, the trailer showed off some stunning scenery, some nostalgic music and yes, perhaps some questionable accents, but mostly it just took everyone who had ever seen the original animation straight back to their childhoods.

But why is everyone so excited for a trailer that, let’s face it, doesn’t give much of anything way? We can give you a good reason. In fact, we can give you seven.

1. The ballroombeauty-and-the-beast-ballroomIt’s grand, it’s golden and it’s perfect.

2. The charactersbeauty-and-the-beast-lumiere Yes, that’s Lumiere, dodgy French accent provided by the one and only Ewan McGregor.

3. The portraitbeauty-and-the-beast-the-portrait Because the beast slashing through the picture of his former self is iconic.

4. The door to the castle

“There’s a girl in the castle!”

5. The rose

One of the most beautiful countdown clocks to true love we’ve ever seen.

6. The first peek at Belle

Yes, that’s Emma Watson. Yes, the jury’s still out on whether she can be Belle. But, yes, we’re also very, very excited.

7. The ‘Be Our Guest’

We’ve seen Lumiere’s dinner shows, and we. Can’t. Wait.

But what really did the trick was combining all of that with the music from the 1991 animated original.

And that is how you tease a trailer. The countdown to March 2017 starts now.
